The United States and Korea appear to be playing a dangerous game with each other. I say dangerous because it could cost millions of lives. Nuclear war can’t be pretty and I get a wee bit anxious when I think of the possibility that we and many other countries may experience such devastation. I do not wish nuclear war, or war of any kind, on any country, or any nation of people’s.
I posted recently on Facebook “I was anxious and earnestly praying against war.”
A friend commented, “I’m praying with you, but the word talks about war and rumors of war. There are some things that will happen. Our comfort is God will protect us for those that believe in HIM. DO NOT BE AFRAID! God is in control”. Other friends have shared similar comments.
Am I in error? Am I not exhibiting faith when I share, I’m a wee bit anxious and fearful, that the future may hold some pretty ugly, ugly events. Actions which would affect millions of lives? In prayer I asked the Lord for wisdom, and to reveal my measure of faith. I was led to read Matthew chapter 24. Interestingly enough, this is where my friends quote of war and rumors of war came from.
In this chapter, Jesus is sitting on the Mount of Olives with his disciples. The disciples ask him, “When will this happen and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” (They were inquiring about Jesus’ final return to earth, life as we now know it will end and a new eternal beginning will take place).
“Jesus answered: ‘you will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.” He goes on to say “At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness the love of most will grow cold, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.”
Don’t miss this…. This is just the beginning! It’s going to get tons worse my friends, before it gets better.
As a believer in Jesus Christ, my faith tells me that when I die I will be with Jesus. I believe one day earth will be renewed in absolute perfection, as it was in its beginning. Satan will have no residency there. He and his followers (those who don’t accept Jesus as God’s son) have a place set aside for them. And it ain’t pretty folks.
The temptations of this world will cease to exist because Satan won’t be there to tempt me, or you. I look forward to that time. I don’t look forward, however, to the path, or the journey which must take place. Biblical prophecy has foretold of coming events and God is faithful to his Word.
We don’t get to pick and choose what we believe from the Word of God. We either believe it or we don’t.
When you look at our world today, I truly believe we are in the beginning birth pains spoken of in Matthew. Rumors of war, famine, earthquakes in various places, nation rising against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and the love of most growing cold. We live in a world filled with more hatred than love. Not to mention we have droughts, earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes and other natural disasters wreaking havoc around the globe.
Satan (Lucifer) isn’t going to go quietly. There’s going to be a war to end all wars; a spiritual battle fought on an earthly plain. I’ve read the end of the book… God wins! He wants everyone to be on the winning team. I’ve chosen to participate on the winning team. Therefore, from that standpoint I have no fear.
I think CS Lewis summarizes my feelings best, “We are not necessarily doubting that God will do the best for us; we are wondering how painful the best will turn out to be.” That my dear friend’s, is why, I’m a wee bit anxious and praying diligently about “rumors of wars”.
My heart’s desire is that every person reading this would be on the winning team. I know many of you will think or say, “That’s your belief”. And, you’re right. It is my belief based on everything I read in the Bible, and what I know from my personal experiences with God and doing life with Jesus.
If I’m wrong, I’ve lost nothing. If I’m right and you don’t choose God’s team then you lose everything upon your death. I pray you will think about that.
Until next time
